Nissho Shipping is a pioneer of ship automation.
It has developed and introduced the ship management system (Ship Manager) and crew management system GRAM
(Good Recruit Assessment & Management) to establish a safe
operation management system.
Nissho Shipping and Nissho Odyssey Ship Management Pte Ltd, a Singapore-based
ship management company established in June 2004, manage the
entire fleet of the Nissho Shipping Group efficiently by its
own quality and safety management standards and an IT-based
ship management system. We endeavor to further strengthen the
group's safe operation control system.
Nissho Shipping is thoroughly implementing a systematic human resources development
program for safe operation. The program includes education on
safety rules for captain, chief engineer and other officers
before boarding, dispatch of safety supervisors to ports our
ships enter, and a regular guidance to be given by safety supervisors aboard
all ships with foreign crew members.
A total of about 1,000 foreign crew members serve on our ships.
Their nationalities are varied and include South Korean, Philippine,
Vietnamese, Indonesian and Chinese. With Nissho Shipping, their
sphere of activity is global.
To ensure and enhance safety of operation and environmental
protection, the Ship Safety Committee chaired by the president
of Nissho Shipping meets regularly. Its objective is to investigate
and study factors that led to ship accidents and to share other
information about accidents for safe operation and protection
of the environment.
